CentOS 7 (gcc 4.8, ICU 73) build fix for remi's PHP 7.4.33, applied after php-7.4.33-icu.patch. php-7.4.33-icu.patch (upstream GH-14002 backport) checks `test "$PKG_CONFIG icu-uc --atleast-version=74"`, a non-empty string, so the test is always true: configure demands C++17, gcc 4.8 has none, and ext/intl is compiled with no -std flag at all ("'char16_t' does not name a type" in ICU headers). Run pkg-config instead of testing a string, as upstream later did: with ICU < 74 the C++11 branch is used. --- a/ext/intl/config.m4 2026-10-21 17:36:39.412558298 +0000 +++ b/ext/intl/config.m4 2026-10-21 17:36:39.416558489 +0000 @@ -85,7 +85,7 @@ PHP_REQUIRE_CXX() AC_MSG_CHECKING([if intl requires -std=gnu++17]) - AS_IF([test "$PKG_CONFIG icu-uc --atleast-version=74"],[ + AS_IF([$PKG_CONFIG icu-uc --atleast-version=74],[ AC_MSG_RESULT([yes]) PHP_CXX_COMPILE_STDCXX(17, mandatory, PHP_INTL_STDCXX) ],[
